Nine years ago my daughter, her husband, and 10 week old baby were hit head-on by 3 boys who were stoned. I have to jump in as someone being on the other side of what being stoned can do. Or, he could be a cunning, nefarious little dude who isn't getting high at all and is wanting to take you for a ride just to see what you'll do. Either way, good on you for having your eyes open. Or maybe he was too stoned to remember he left it on the table. Kids think they're so clever, in a "my simple, uncool parents will never know how clever I am, just watch as I leave this out on the table and they never catch on" kind of way.
Are there holes punched in it, by any chance? But I'm not sure the saran wrap is doing him any favors. Perhaps for the DR tube he has combined the detergent with water and is hoping it will act (or has acted) as a filter, with the smoke bubbling through and taking on the scent of the detergent. That way the 'rents smell Bounce instead of weed. It is possible to make a device out of a toilet paper roll with something porous stuffed in at the bottom (like fabric softener sheets), then exhale through the tube and the smoke will filter out through the scented substance. Often, those who partake of the herb will want to find a way to keep the exhaled smoke scent at bay. Love the color palette! Enjoy the process. Since you are planning to remodel your child's bath, I would definitely keep a tub/shower unit there.
The amount you save by not having to do a full remodel every ten years to replace outdated finishes can pay for some nice vacations and memories for your family. They are relatively inexpensive and always changing. Keep the trendy elements to the cabinetry, faucets, lighting and accessories. Splurge on the heated floors if you live in a cool climate and hate cold feet. You definitely need to add cabinetry for storage. The expensive, more permanent features should be timeless finishes. It is the one feature in your home that typically is used daily.
Unless you have the space for a separate soaking tub, I believe a full size shower should always be the way to go in a limited space master. I love a great tub soak, but in reality I rarely use my big bathtub. Do you currently take a tub bath very often? If not, is it because of the condition of the current tub, or because your lifestyle and/or demands don't really permit you the time? I think this is a really important point to consider before you start tearing things out. That may influence whether you keep the old or replace with new. Be sure to investigate this before installing new tile as mildew will grow through the new grout/caulking if the moisture problem is not corrected. It does appear from your pictures of the tub faucet area, that you could have some water damage behind the walls. Should you definitely go with a tub/ shower set-up, I do hope you consider having the existing tub restored as it looks like it is a nice, wide cast iron gem. Austin and Houston Texas both have such ordianances.
I'm also going to see about getting an ordinance prohibiting parking vehicles in designated 'yards' passed as that would give code enforcement some leverage to get rid of all the junker cars and motor home that haven't moved in years. BTW, the way I know about the gun safes is that he was told that by people on the fire as they had to investigate it. If they do, you can bet it will be a 4 a.m.
The narcotics unit will be investigating looking for probably cause to get in that house. He hadn't heard about the fire or the two gun safes in every room, and was very interested that aspect of things. Anyway, as it turns out, my email about the situation to a councilwoman was forwarded to the police department, and I got a call from one of the sergeants this morning. Unwanted, it was a HUGE blessing as it turns out that these people have not one, but TWO gun safes in every room-I assume the kitchen and bathroom are excluded, but who knows? There is also a huge cache of ammo in the garage. I haven't had a chance to go through them carefully, I know it's a nightmare. Our CCRs were written in such a way that it's almost impossible to change them, and then it takes either 75% or 90% yes vote to do so. The dog owner may well lose her home over this. The dog owner blew it off, and the plantiff won. The nuisance lawsuits are an interesting idea, especially after what happened in Seattle a few weeks ago when a neighbor filed a $500,000 lawsuit against the neighbor for a barking dog. Kelly, thanks for the great info and leads.
